You should have taken pictures to show that there was no damage, but other than that, you have done nothing wrong. You do not have to call your insurance company.

If there was no police report filed, and a couple weeks have gone by, any claim filed by him will likely be denied.

i would say NO damage no claim, you said there was no damage,if he reports there was a accident and damage,i would say there was no accident as he must have made the damage,

Hardly sounds like a crash, you got lucky I would say. If no one has anything to claim the insurance companies do not need to be notified. It would have been prudent, however, to take some pictures on the vehicles just in case. I keep a disposable camera in my glove box for just this purpose. I would also make a note of the date, time, location, make & model of the other vehicle and the plate # (and which state it was from). I also would make a note of the description of the driver and if he was alone or had passengers (and how many). How long does this person have to pursue a claim depends on where you live. Where I am the Statute of Limitations is 2 years. If someone waits 6 months to make a claim however that is predudical to their position, I mean after all if you truly did suffer a loss why would you wait that long to present a claim for it.

you could of caused damage and still not involved insurance if both agreed, not illegal at all.

once you leave the scene, if a police report isn't taken, then it never happened.

In the U.S. this is all perfectly legal. Usually have up to three years to file a claim.

The other driver semms ok, its just one of those things and not worth worrying over. In the VERY unlikely event he decides to take it further his insurance company would probably expect him to start the claim within a week.

Dont worry about it and just put it down to one of those things that happen to everyone at some time.

Just keep an note of the time/date/reg number and stop worrying about it. If he was happy there was no damage he is very unlikely to claim against you. Possibly he wasn't insured, so if your car is OK just forget about it.

I did this myself a few days after I passed my test. It was very embarrassing, but luckily no damage done.

depends on the state; in Wisconsin any time the damage is under $500 it does not need to be reported.

at the very least you should have made out a police report.normally you have48hrs to do so.other driver may do nothing,but you never know.
