The Pontiac will be cheaper on insurance. The engine is smaller and the parts are cheaper. Less liability for the insurance company.

The Lincoln LS is not an "old fogey" car. Besides, that is not what she is asking about. The Lincoln should be cheaper on gas but it does have some expensive maintenance. The pontiac is considered a sports car and it is a newer model year, meaning it will likely be more in insurance but not by much. Go to an online insurance quoter and try using both cars seperately. You can go to geico or progressive and compare rates without being hassled on the phone.

Tough call. Usually insurance drops dramatically after the car is five years old - that would be the Lincoln. But usually it costs more with a V8.

Milage isn't a factor.

Of course, if you buy liability only - no coverage for the car itself - you're probably not going to see much of a price difference between the two of them, if ANY. But if there's a loan on this car, you'll need to carry full coverage.

The Lincoln would probably eat you alive on gas, where the Pontiac should be better there. For insurance purposes, both cars should be equal for liability rates, but the Lincoln would be more expensive for comp and collision, being a more expensive car to begin with. And do you really want to be seen in an "old fogey" car?

For car insurance the best way to get a very good rate is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same limits, auto type, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.
