i may be buying a new car tomorrow which is quite far from my house. How am i to be insured on this car if i decide to buy it. Im aware i could pre-insure before purchasing but if i decide not to have the car then i wont get my deposit back from the insurer.

Insurers can insure you immediately over the phone, so if you decide to buy it ring them on your mobile and get it insured. To make it quicker for you ring them up before you go and get a quote. |

find a new insurance agent. You should be able to swith the car over if you already have a car on the policy and it should only take a few minutes. If you need to get a new policy have the work done before and call em if you get it. Just picked one up 600 miles from where I live called them up and they switched it 4 me. Nationwide. |

Notify the insurance company you want to use that you are buying a new car and tell them what you think you want to buy. They will give you a rough insurance quote in advance. Buy the car on a weekday when your insurance company is open. You can call them from the dealership and get immediate insurance when you decide to seal the deal. Usually you can give them a credit card number over the phone and they will give you what is called a binder number which is your proof you are insured the second you drive off the lot. Any loose ends of the insurance you can take care of the next day, such as going to the insurance company to write them a check instead of using your credit card number. |

If you already have a policy, normally you have 30 days to add a new vehicle.
If there's no coverage as yet (even on another vehicle), dealerships can write out binders (these are for liability coverage only). Best thing to do is call the insurance carrier, give them the info on the vehicle. They can begin a policy and when you decide on the vehicle you can call them with the information they need. |
