Car Insurance need advice?

I have one car with 24 years no claims and am going to be the policy holder for my sons car. Can i put down that i have 24 years no claims or do i have to start again (in the sense put 0 down??)Im quite confused by the process as i haven't had to do this before, also it is very difficult for him to afford insurance if we don't do it this way so if anyone knows of any good cheap insurance companies

You can't transfer your excellent record I'm afraid, but it's worth explaining the whole story to your present insurer who I'm sure will get you the best deal.
Although you will be the policy holder for your son's car, you will have to declare of course that it's his and he will be the main driver, they will obviously charge more because of your son's age but it's likely to be your cheapest option.
The down side if you choose this route is that if your son were to have an accident, and statistically he is more likely to than you, it could well count against your own no claims bonus.
If you decide you want him to get his own, just shop around on the web and get as many quotes as you can, your present insurer might still get you the best deal for a separate policy for your son. |

try contacting your present insurance company, see if they will insure 2nd car. some will give you a discount for several cars.the National Farmers Union give a discount or at least cheaper insurance for several vehicals (no need to be a farmer to be insured by them)
good luck |

Have you tried getting a quote from a comparison site? They just have boxes that you tick, you don't have to know anything.
These are two that I use:

try quinn direct . com they are cheap for new drivers... be best if he takes out his own cover.. your bonus is only for one car...its not like years ago when you would insure a car to any driver... its a money racket |

For car insurance the quickest way to get a low quote is do a policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage levels, you can get an fast quote to compare against others. Use the same zipcode, car make and model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get an apples to apples comparison. To get easy auto quotes, go to http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Auto-Insurance-Quote.html and you can compare the major auto insurance companies. |

The simple answer is that you can only use it once with one car.
Be careful as it sounds like you are about to commit a very common insurance fraud scam known as "Fronting".
Police and insurance companies are very aware that this is attempted and in the event of being stopped or in the event of a claim rigorous checks are made. if found to be fronting as well as having the insurance cancelled you will be in trouble for obtaining an insurance certificate dishonestly which is an offence under the road traffic acts.
If found out and convicted as you both would be, you would find it very hard to get insurance of any sort for a very long time and 24 years no claims would count for nothing. The 24 years no claims would be lost as well if your son has an incident on your policy. |

a small engine run a bout would be best to get his owen insurance,,so he will get his own no claim bonus after a year or so.protect your no claims bonus if you do insure him,or you could end up losing it,through no fault of yours, cheers dave. |

i think you mean that your sons car is to be a second car insured by you,and you are keeping your car as well.
some company's will take no claims on a second car some wont as you know the price will depend on your sons age and driving record so shop around, try the internet sites. |
