Car Tax Query - Advice Please?

Ok so it's an expensive few weeks for me lol. Car tax is due at the end of March, MOT on the 27th March and insurance renewal due 04th April.
Like a fool i've misplaced my existing insurance certificate and MOT certificate so wanted to do my car tax on-line (as they can just check the database and I don't need to produce hard copy's).
So was on-line and it says I can't purchase my tax disc if I don't have a valid MOT the date my new tax disc would come into force. Am hoping it passes it's MOT and all will be fine but what happens if it doesn't and I don't have the MOT prior to my new tax??
Basically what I'm asking is can I purchase my tax on-line now if I am going to put it in for an MOT prior to the expiry?
The cars a Fiat so no guarantee's it'll pass lol.
Any advice greatly appreciated! =)

Hmmm - I'm in the same boat as you (altho' my Insurance was renewed last month) - I think you will have to get a new MOT before the DVLA will renew the tax, as they do say the MOT must be valid for the day the new tax disc comes into force (i.e. 1st. April) The MOT testing station will add any days left on the old MOT to the new one, so you won't lose out if you have it tested before the 27th. As for the car being a Fiat, they're as good (or bad!) as any other make, so good luck, get the new test in quick, fingers crossed! |
