car title loans for $300. But i never paid the $300 nor did they pick up my car yet. Its been 10 months and Im not sure what company I went to. I remember they told they send the title to Austin,Tx ( i live in Dallas,Tx) What do I do???

File for a lost title or a duplicate.
Go to the DMV and get it.
Sell the freakin car and move. |

If you owe them money, then do the Right thing and pay them back. Never mind that the people in this business are usually sharks that practice predatory lending. You are the one who decided to get in the water with them.
If you did not sign a bill of sale, they probably did not transfer the title. They just sent it to Austin to assign themselves as lien-holder. That means, you can go down to the County Tax Office at Josey and Beltline and get a duplicate title. You can not do much with it but it will tell you who the lien-holder is. A little research will lead you straight to who you will have to pay to get them to release the lien. If they refuse or they are charging you way too much interest (more than you agreed to in the contract), you may have an unfair lending practices case against them. Don't count on it. |

You're kidding, right. Don't be surprised if you run into the repo people one of these first days. Look through your papers and pay the $300 back. When it comes time to do something with the car--sell it, trade it, you won't be able to do anything with it because it no longer belongs to you. |

In Texas, if the vehicle is titled in your name, and there is no lien holder, you can go to a quick title office and fill out the forms to get a title on the spot.
If you mailed your application for title into the blue and now it's missing, you can get the seller to go get a quick title and then do the paperwork all over again...be sure to stop payment on your check.
If you mailed your documents to the state title office (with the 300.00 dollars you spoke of) call them and see what's going on. Your DPS license office can give you a phone number.
If anyone has a lien on this car, go to them. It's technically their title and they will want to help you get it. Your county tax assessor collector (at the court house) can help you too.
If you stiffed the people who loaned you money for this car and now you want to go wire around the meter to get a title on it .....you're breaking the law and could be arrested. Even if you never heard from them again and they haven't picked up the car. If someone else legally owns it and you have not paid for it, you can't legally title it.

You can't get it back if you haven't paid the loan. It's your responsibility to remember who you got the loan from and pay it. They don't have to contact you at all and the longer you don't pay them and the longer it takes for them to get the car the more interest will build up so I would say you're screwed. |

What kind of an atrocity is this? Who in their right mind would turn over title of their car to somebody for $300??? And how in the world can you "forget" where you went for the loan?
They are probably just sitting there with the interest building up at a phenomenal rate knowing you will have to get back to them when you need to sell the car, so it looks like unless you can somehow remember who it was you can never sell it because there is no title anywhere, which means you cannot prove you even own it.
By the time you figure out who it is the total with interest will be in the thousands. If your brain is this badly fried I doubt if you should even be driving, and this is a sign. |
