Car accident - do I HAVE to get insurance involved??!?

Car accident - do I HAVE to get insurance involved??!?

So I got in a minor car accident, I dented the other parties car a bit. He's someone I know, and he said he'd tell his parents that someone hit him in a parking lot. Then, later on, he says his dad's getting mad, so he wants to contact info. But he promises they won't get insurance involved. BUT today, I get a phone call from my insurance company, asking what happened. The thing is, my car is way more damaged then his, he just has a little dent in his car. I am TOTALLY willing to pay for the damages, I just really don't want the insurance involved.
So I called him and he said he'll talk to his dad. Should I call my insurance company and say this or what?
Like I heard it was illegal to not tell the insurance company about a car accident?? Is this true?
Is it possible to get his dad to cancel trying to get insurance involved, and just let me pay for the damages???
Can I ask my insurance company about that, or would they just make me get insurance involved since that way they can make money off me.

The other parties car just got a dent.
My cars the one that got f***ed up.
So bascailly, I should call my insurance company and tell them that I will just pay for the damages and not get insurance involved? Thats legal/okay right?!?!

They're not making money off you, in fact they're losing money because of you. They have to pay for damages that you caused to another person - how are they gaining money in this situation? Hello!!!

Your friends dad has every right to contact the insurance company. Even if you want to pay for damages yourself it's his right to contact your insurance and seek recovery for damages done to his vehicle. This is why you have insurance. It's not illegal to not report a claim. You should let your insurance company handle the damages to both your friends vehicle and your vehicle. There may be more damage than just a dent on your friends car. Grow up and suffer the consequences of your actions buddy

"Make money off of me" No, they lose money on you, the claim will probably cost more than you paid last year. And they will probably raise your rates, which you probably consider "making money off of me". Now that the insurance companies are involved you probably can't get them out of it.
Depending on the nature of the accident, it can be a matter of law to not report it to the police. It isn't going to be illegal NOT to report it to the insurance company - it can be a contract violation and they may be able to cancel your insurance for it.

If you wish to pay for the damages yourself, you do not have to involve your insurance company, and it is not illegal to do so. Call your insurance company, tell them what you are going to do. They will probably be glad not to have to pay it for you, but they may wish to have a statement from the person whose car you damaged that it was settled completely.

YOu are not the only person who have ever met this kind of problem,I met this type of problem before.I have good experience here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm to solve the problem.

It's not really advisable to pay the damage yourself because car repairs are very expensive. Don't forget about paying for a rental for the other person and what happens if the body shop starts working on it, and they find hidden damage?

You can tell your insurance company that you'd like to take care of the other person's damage out of pocket, but the other person has to agree to that.

ADD: It's not illegal to ignore your insurance company, but when your parent's insurance policy comes up for a renewal, they may be CANCELLED!

There are state laws that regulate insurance companies, and insurance company rules and regulations can be different in different states.
That said, once an insurance company knows of an accident, there is no hiding it. However, if it's a small claim, it may not have much effect (if any) on your rates. Some companies even have a forgiveness clause if it's your first claim, and/or if you don't get in another accident for a certain number of years.Talk to your agent.
By the way, autobody repairs can be amazingly expensive. Has an estimate been made for repair costs for the other car?

You don't have to tell the insurance anything. How did they even know about it? You should just deny the whole thing. If there was'nt a report from the police at the exact time and location, there is nothing for anyone to go on. I had this same issue with a friend whos father was an insurance agent. He wouldnt except my money and said he wanted to take it in to an expensive repair place. I told him no, and he couldnt do anything about it.
