Car accident no auto insurance?

Hi does anyone know what will happen in Mass if you get in an accident and have no auto insurance? I didn't realize mine had run out when I got into an accident. I reported it to my insurance agent and was told that I had no insurance anymore. So now I am not sure what to do . I put insurance back on my vehicle but what will happen now? Please if anyone knows let me know thanks

No I did not report it to the new insurance company and no thank god no-one was hurt. Should I report it to the new company there isn't anything they can do is there?

You will have to pay out of your pocket. Did you report to the accident to the new insurance company? Hopefully no one was hurt.

As far as any citations, I really don't know. You will be responsible for any damages to the other car. If you're lucky the other insurance company will pay for the other cars' damages and work out some sort of payment plan. If you have the money to pay it do yourself a favor and PAY NOW. Insurance companies don't play around with their money and they will sue you if need be and will show no mercy. Just try to keep your cool when the adjusters come a'calling.
PS -- I would try to avoid any person to person settlement unless you both agree to let a lawyer draw up a simple agreement first. It will cost you a couple of hundred bucks but will protect you in case the other party suddenly turns nasty.

It really depends. First and foremost, was the accident your fault or not? Everything hinges on that. If it was your fault, you will have to pay out of pocket. If not, the fact you didn't have insurance doesn't matter.

The real question is, how did you not know you didn't have insurance? Surely you got a bill before it was due to run out, didn't you?

Obviously you will have to pay for damages if you are at fault. Normally either party will be ticketed for no insurance. It is a healthy one - here in God's country - WA, it is abou 550$. I am glad you appear to be uninjured.
