Car accident, no insurance?!!!!?

Car accident, no insurance?!!!!?

A high school kid hit my car today, I was at a stop sign and he turned too early and hit my car. I do not have insurance(welp I know, I'm a single mother we can't afford it all). Anyway, he did have insurance and he was at fault. Will his insurance cover the cost to fix my car or no? Since I didn't have insurance and all that is?

If you are in California (I cannot vouch for other states), he is liable to you for your damage. However, thank God that you are not hurt, because you would be entitled to actual medical expenses, but you would not be entitled to any wage replacement or pain and suffering award.

His insurance will pay your damage, but please, for the sake of your future and your children, find a low-cost policy to protect yourself.

I wish you luck!

Depending on what state you are in, you can get into a degree of trouble yourself with driving with out insurance: License revolked, jailed, minimum fines of 250 and up, etc. It can cost you more in the long run then what the damage can be worth.

Single mother is no excuse. It is illegal and wrongful to drive around with no insurance. If this was turned around and he had no insurance, I bet you would be very mad.

Even if the rate is high, it is best to save the money. There is good rates out there.

Discuss this with his insurance company. A price has to be paid if not following the law. Even if wasn't your fault, it is procedure.

His insurance will fix your car but you will probably get a ticket and fine for driving an uninsured vehicle. If you state requires insurance, you may even get your registration revoked too. The DMV will find out and you will have to pay to get your car reregistered, which you cannot do without first providing proof of insurance. It's a catch 22 for sure.

You could actually lose your license depending on the laws in your state, for a short period, or for a long time if you have ever been caught driving without insurance before or if you have a poor driving record. I don't want to scare you but you are probably going to have to shell out some serious dough to get this all straightened out and have your car legal. Promise me that you won't drive without a registration and insurance again. Borrow the money if you can, just to get the minimum coverage. I'm a single mom too but I want to set a good example for my daughter and follow the law. We have been broke before but we don't break the law...even the stupid revenue creating ones for the state. I know it may be easier said than done but try to find a way to make it happen. Good luck.

You would file the claim to his insurance company. Say you DID have insurance, in this case your insurance company wouldn't even need to be contacted because he is at fault.

Not to sound too cold-hearted here, But if you can't afford insurance, you have no business driving. What if it had been you that struck a child or caused damage or injury to someone else? This just grinds my gears. I own 2 cars, an SUV, a motorcycle and a boat, and it costs me a fortune to insure these vehicles on an annual basis. Could I use the money for other things? Sure, but at least if I hit your car you can be assured the damage will be paid for.

Call his insurance company and file a claim. In most states it does not matter that you do not have insurance.

If you live in a state with a No-Pay No-Play statute your are only entitled to actual economic damages. Meaning you will get paid for the damage to your vehicle, but if you were injured you will not be compensated for non-economic damages(pain & suffering).

I suggest you cut back on other expenses some, and get at least a compulsory insurance policy. You really need insurance. What would you have done if you were at fault for the accident?

You'd probably have to file a claim with his insurance company. They might have a form for you to fill out and you would need to submit an estimate of repair. Call them and ask. Can't hurt unless they report you to the police.

I am so sorry but the fault will switch to you because of you not having insurance...no matter how much the accident was his fault...the courts see it as you would not have had accident if you obeyed the law cause you cannot be on the road without insurance...I know it may not seem right...but think how you would feel if you had insurance and person at fault did not...they probably never would pay even if you had a court judgement against them...how much is your insurance where you last had it ? I know it is hard to make it...I will help you if I can...

His (parents) insurance should cover the cost of your repairs. I don't know where you live, but in my state you would have been given a ticket for not having proof of insurance. You would either have to pay $500 or go to court and prove you had insurance at the time of the accident. I am a single mother too, and we cannot afford to be on the road with uninsured drivers.
