Car accident (not my fault) and rental car for someone who is 18.?

I was in a car accident that wasnt my fault. My car is now going to get fixed and the insurance company is paying for my rental car. The only problem is that I am 18, and am not old enough to rent a car. Is the insurance company responsible for getting me a rental car that I am allowed to drive or am i out of luck while my car is getting fixed? What would I have to do to get it worked out with the insurance company that I could get a rental car that I can drive.

It's not the insurance company's responsibility to ensure you get a rental vehicle. You could always take the bus and charge the fare to the insurer. Or you could take the taxi for necessary trips (i.e. to get to and from work/school, doctor's appointments) however there may be a maximum that they will pay for that. |

Yea you may be in a bind. It's the car rental agencies that set the driver age. Maybe there is an agency that has a lower age requirement in your area.
Have you taken your car in for repair yet?
Some collision shops have "loaners" that they provide themselves instead of going through a rental agency.
