somebody crash in to me today i have insurance but no tax or mot on the car will the other persons insurance company pay up

Without Tax or MOT, your insurance is worthless in the UK. If the Police and Revenue and Customs catch up with you then you will receive a fine, have the vehicle seized and be subject to a ban.

technically,no mot or tax,then you're insurance company could weasel out of covering you.in fact an mot means nothing,and is only actually a small fine because you could effectively get a defect with your car later in the day after it had been passed ok in the morning.tax wise,the dvla will fine you.count on it. |

No, you don't have insurance, you just think you do. With no tax or mot your insurace is void, and you had the car out there illegally. And if you hadn't have been there, driving illegally, there would have been no accident, which makes it your fault. So no, the other persons insurance will not pay up, you will be getting a fine and perhaps losing your car. |

No car tax + no MOT = no insurance.
Your car shouldn't have been on the road - unless you were heading to a booked appointment at a registered MOT station.
Basically as your car was not in any way, shape or form roadworthy the accident was your fault as if you were following the law the other driver would never have hit you.

In short your in poop big time.
Assuming you gave your correct details to the other party involved then their insurance company will cross check against yours and check your vehicle for MOT and tax records.
now you've already admitted that you have no tax or MOT then your insurance will be totally invalid and will not cover you for any loss at all. At best it might cover the other party, if not then you could be liable for a small claims court case to reclaim the cost of the repairs to the other parties car from you personally.
The end result will be that you will have a recorded insurance problem for some time to come and insurance will be more difficult or expensive for you to purchase if totally honest. |

If you were on a public highway No and you had no insurance either as they insist on the car being road legal. Even to park a car on public highway it must have Insurance, MOT and Tax by law.
If you were on private land ie your drive then yes they should, contact your insurance company.

if your car dosen't have tax or mot then the insurance will not be valid in the event of an accident unless it was ur lucky day 4 it 2 happen on the way to or from a pre-arranged mot appointment.
It's the same as being insured on a provisonal license but driving uncorrectly supervised or without L plates, insurance wd be invalid them even if you got it |
