Wait two days, take the car to YOUR body shop, get an estimate, add $50 per day for a rental car for the repairs, for however long your body shop says it will take. And if you STILL have no injuries, and he's willing to write the check for the repairs plus rental, go for it. |

Yup, like Jim says, get your own assessment of the costs of repair. The cop knows NOTHING. Lots of body shops will give you a quote for free. Take it to at least 3 body shops that you like, and ask the other fellow to pay the lowest one.
If he wants to keep insurance out of it, that's understandable, insurance will raise his rates MANY thousands of dollars over the next 3 years. |

Do not accept the cash without your own independent assessment from a body shop of your choosing!1000.00 goes really not to far when it comes to busted uo auto's these days. |

ask him if you can get an appraisal. And yes the insurance companies will try to cheat you more....I'd settle out of pocket if I were you. But make sure you have some sort of recorded agreement that you both decided to settle out of pocket. |

Do not settle like this ! You may regret it later when/if your back starts hurting or when you find some hidden damage to your car. Let your insurance company handle the whole thing |

DO NOT take the cash unless you know it will cover all damages. Have you vehicle inspected by a certified mechanic to ensure there are not any 'hidden' damages. Even a fender bender can total you car if the frame is warped. |

dont do it! you never know your car could be damaged more than what is visible if you were rear ended or broadsided neck or back pain is not always felt the instant the accident happened sometimes it takes hours or a few days dont go by what the cop says hes not and insurance appraiser cars cant take a hit anymore like they used to |
