ok.I have a 1991 olds calais quad 442, 5 speed manual. in the morning it acts like it is a old carb thats really cold and takes forever to start, and it always backfires. btw its fuel injection. when it starts the rpms cannot go over 2500 it jumps up and down and limits where it goes.. also while driving it screws with the rmps and you have to shift early and feels like its bottoming out, at 5th gear on the highway at about 60 the rpms sit at about 2700 and the thing bogs down and jumps back and forth and i loose all my horse power for a split second and it kicks back in back and forth. what is it? and i put fuel injector cleaner with every fill up and the expensive stuff but nothing happens

Just time for a newer car or you might have to replace the engine. My ford ranger did the same thing just before it died. |

first you need a tune up. second, sounds like the air intact could be clogged and needs cleaning. next have the idle control sensor checked and the rev limiter too. |
