Joe P, There are tons of sites where you can get an online quote. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Auto-Insurance-Quote.html It only takes a few minutes to do. |

Firstly the insurance assessor will decide if the car is wrote off. They are all different, but if the repairs will cost more than 60% of the cars value (approximately) he will write it off. In the mean time you must maintain both car and insurance payments. They will base the cars value on industry price changes (book value) and make you an offer. You do not have to accept their 1st offer, but will generally lose any courtesy car if you have one by declining it. The offer will not be based on forecourt prices or book prices, but somewhere in between.
Once the offer is accepted the insurance will settle the finance in full and send the remainder to you. Settling the finance will incur early settlement charges so you will better off the longer the finance has been running.
With your cheque and your finance settled you are then free to go and get another.
If the assessor does not write off your car, they will repair it and return it. Good luck |

For auto insurance the quick way to get a low quote is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make certain that you compare similar options with the same deductibles, auto make, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison.
What I usually recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have lots of insurers and will give multiple prices on auto insurance polices. |

as your claim is not resolved you need to keep paying your monthly instalments.usually what they do they value the car at the current market value less the scrappage value.hope this helps |

If the car is financed - continue to make your payments as normal. If you stop making the payments and the insurance check has not arrived - the finance company can repo the wrecked car. It will show up as a repo on your credit.
So - continue to make your payments as normal. When the insurance company settles up with you they will have you sign some paperwork before they send the check to the finance company. So you'll know about when the insurance check is going out. If the finance company ends up with too much money (say your check and the insurance check arrive at the same time) then the finance company will refund you. |

I've never had this happen to me, but I would of thought you'd carry on paying for your car and then you would get the money back from the insurer. You will lose out though, the cars value will be based on todays market, so you won't get back nearly as much as you paid out. |

You must still pay for your insurance & your car until a decision is made.
Your insurance company charges a year in advance, then allows you to finance this by paying monthly instalments. The full premium is still due regardless of what happens during the term of your policy.
Your finance company will need to be notified of the accident, they will then either give a settlement figure of what they are still owed, and expect this to be paid out of any settlement figure, or allow you to use your pay out to refinance a different car with them.
Your insurer will offer a value based on a book figure, taking account of pre accident condition, mileage, etc - this is where you need to be sure you haven't added any modifications to the car & not informed your insurer, such as big alloys or body kits. You will be offered a value, but remember you'll have your payout reduced by the value of your insurance excess. If you dispute the value, think carefully - make sure you have info to back up your claim, such as photos, receipts, similar cars' sale prices, etc., - the assessor may well adjust the amount down as well as up.
Expect to be offered between £3,000 for an average condition 1.4 Urban to £8,000 for an immaculate low mileage GTi. |

you should carry on paying both co. as a fall back, but do tell your insurance BROKER that you intend to make a full claim, for loss of vehicle and expenses incurred. that is if you are fully comprehensive.you should also inform the co. that owns the vehicle, that is the finance co. you don't own it till it's paid for. also don't be daft and miss payments.we are assuming you are the one that did cause the accident? |

you need to cancel the insurance if you don't intend getting another car but obviously you still owe on the finance so you gotta pay them.they work out the value from glasses guide book price against the pre-accident condition of the vehicle and mileage etc minus your excess and current market depreciation |
