Car insurance claim - please help?

You could go into Auto Trader and see what cars similar to yours are advertised for. Copy and paste a few of these ads and forward to the insurance company. I did this when a guy ran into me and his insurance wanted to write off my car, and pay me their "market value". When I contested this, They told me take it to a main dealer for a pre accident valuation, but I replied that it was their assessor who had come to see my car and I was in no way prepared to do his job if he couldn't do it properly. They replied with a big fat cheque for the proper amount.Insurance companies will do anything not to have to pay out money.

how do you know your car is worth 6500-7000? the insurance company is paying you what the retail value of the car would be if you were selling it, minus the amount of over mileage you may have.

If you think that your vehicle is worth that amount of money , advise the insurance company that you will not accept their offer and then get some examples of your vehicle of the net ie autotrader and prove to the insurance company that that vehicle is worth 6500 ..

in a word no they are paying u wot yr car is worth based on a few factors like age of the car milage etc...... just coz u say its worth that much doesnt mean to say it will be.you could try to ask for more money but doubtful u will get out sorry for the bad news.my sister has a friend who wrote her car off a while ago and she got about a grand less than she was expecting

For car insurance the quick way to get a great rate is do a rate comparison on car policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same deductibles, car make, location, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.

What I always recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have discount insurers and will give multiple quotes on auto insurance polices.

They never, ever pay out the true resale value, despite what Dave above says. It's tough, but I don't think there is an appeal process. You could try a written complaint and see what happens.

For starters, Mr. Kier is a total idiot. There is no advantage at all for an insurer NOT to settle a claim to it's fullest value owed to you. Your job is to prove your particular vehicle is indeed worth more than they are offering. In the U.S. we use market value -- locate as many vehicles for sale in your area (about 50 miles) with the same or as near to same options, condition, mileage and model as you can. Keep a list of numbers and locations. If the vehicles are indeed selling for 6500 - 7000 then call the adjuster and tell him/her. It could be they have simply made an error --- could be they are RIGHT....

I think my dad could help you, he is a solicitor and I think he deals with this sort of stuff quite a bit. Look up Blakeley Solicitors to find the number, but please don't tell him I told you, he'd have a fit because he gets pissed if I get him more work than he can handle.
