How could i get a cheap car insurance and what would be the cheapest price? every site i have been on it said about £3000 and that would be more then what the actual car costs.

There's nowhere to get cheap car insurance for a seventeen year old, especially for a boy. I had my son on my insurance when he first learned to drive but he was older than seventeen. The cost is high for a very good reason; they are a danger on the roads. |

The best thing to do is go direct to the insurance compnay, such as directline, quinn, churchill and Bell these are insurance companies that are quite cheap, also try and buy a smaller engined car and get a parent onto the policy as a named driver, this will bring the cost down. The cheapest i got was £1700 at 17 on a 1.0 corsa that was with directline. |

if you are getting fully comp on it then they'll ask however much the car is worth. Try NOT getting fully comp.
Also, get quotes from different insurers. I am sure you'll find some that are cheaper than others. |

A couple of companies have started offering "pay as you drive" car insurance...i think either Norwich union or direct line offer this. You only pay for the time you drive, which makes it cheaper if you're not driving between 11 at night and six in the morning. |

You're doing something wrong: Either you're getting quotes on a car in a very high insurance group, or you're looking in the wrong place.
Try http://ww.confused.com - and make sure that you limit your mileage, show the car as being parked in a garage or off the street, get a quote for having an alarm fitted, make sure you're getting third party, fire & theft rather than fully comp. quotes, etc. |
