Car insurance for a learner's permit?

if i am driving with a learner's permit and i get in an accident, how does the whole insurance thing work?

You don't need to be on the policy until you have a license, since you will never be in the car alone. The person assisting you to learn, who is in the front seat, is responsible for you and their insurance covers you.

They are supposed to be close enough to take over driving and avoid any accident, so you won't get in an accident.
