Car insurance query???

Car insurance query?
I have a mate who is 19 years old and is paying 48 pound for his car insurance and only pays for the month he wants to drive. He claims he is fully comprehensive and is able to drive other cars. He wanted to drive my car but I did not allow it in case his insurance wasnt legal. The other day my other mate was driving with him when he got stopped by the police. The police asked to him to produce his insurance documents and he did. The police let him go without any further questions. His been driving like this for 8 months now and his older brother is insured the same way on his renault megane 04 reg. I have been trying to ask him about where he has got his insurance from but he is not willing to tell. The only thing he has told me that it is online and he makes payment through his card. I feel like wacking a wet fish over him but that wont get me any where. Is there any body out there who is aware of this insurance? And also were could I obtain this insurance for myself?

thanks for your comment.. But ive tried asking him whether its esure and he goes its not. and £48.00 is ridiculously cheap for some one at his age.

If he won't tell you about his insurance he has something to hide. You're right not to let him drive your car until he can prove to you that his insurance definitely covers him to do so. In fact I wouldn't let him do so even if he does produce "proof".

he is using a pay as you go insurance... but Â£48.00 pounds sounds ridiculously cheap... he is insured, but I doubt he has given the insurance company truthful information to be insured at price at his age. I use e-car insurance which is pay as you go... try this:- http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk/about.php, as long as you pay by card every month you are covered!

Its cheap because he is probably has his parent as main driver and he is insured only as a second driver and probably not allowed to drive other cars in reality
PAYG insurance is always more expensive than annuallised insurance

ask to see his insurance ..if he nothing to hide he wont mind showing it to you.

i do know there is icopanies out there who ha ve special deals for young people i e who do not drive at night or dont use motor ways and who only drive a certain milage per month ect
