Should I want this car totaled and if so, what can I do to convince the insurance company to total it? The place that is repairing it said they want it to be just below 75% of the actual car value.

another consideration. do you have an outstanding loan? if they total the car, and say the loan is 11,000, you would still owe the lien 1,500.

1k balance from 10k and most likely you have a 500 deductible.

you are one of the 1st who states your car is worth less than what the insurance company says; most people complain that they offer a certain amount and believe owed more.

also; it is always best to buy another car when you are not under the gun to buy right now, which you would if totaled. usually the insurance company gives you X number of days to find another auto.

It is not totaled because it is less then 75%.Nate is right .There is nothing you can do but get it fixed.Where did you get your value from.Insurance company go by Blue Book value.if you don't want car anymore sell it fast but not to a dealer.

That is true. If the amount is above that 75% mark, the insurance company will most likely total it.
