Well I went and gave all the necessary documents and the girl came back and said that the insurance was invalid! She said she had to keep the insurance certificate and I had to ring my company! They said that they had not been receiving payments for the past 3 months! I was totally baffled and checked my account! (I dont take money from it as my money just goes toward the bills) Sure enough the money was all there! They said that I had cancelled the direct debit which I didnt! Anyhow I have just sorted out my insurance with another company that wont mess me around! The question is if I go in on Monday to the tax office will I get in any bother for using an invalid certificate today?

My car has been off the road! I just dont want the tax office to think I was trying to pull a fast one! I drove to work this morning as my car passed its MOT lastnight, I had insurance (so i thought) and I was taxing it today!
I'm a real worrier and I just dont want to get in any bother!

I wouldnt worry about it, my insurance company did near enough the same thing to me last wk, I recieved a letter to say my policy had been cancelled 2 wks after the cancelation date...so i was on the road for them 2 wks with no clue!...all for £30 quid, which for some un known reason they failed to take out my bank.....insurance is sh*t but a must have to keep us out of trouble!!...u'll be fine |

I would be surprised.it has been sorted you now have insurance. I think you should find out from your bank why they have not honoured your direct debit, the fault may actually lie there |

no, i doubt it. you now have insurance so as long as you present the valid certificate no one will think anything of it. you could always got o another post office if you feel embarrassed or even buy online. |

no you wont at all if you go in with a valid one on monday they will tax your car if the dvla write to you about the invalid one just write back to them and explain what happened with copies of all documents to prove it. be carful though that the old insurance company dont still try and get the money off youfor the months when they were not receiving money coz that is happening to me at the moment! im not paying them though! |

I doubt it, but the worry is that you may have been driving whilst uninsured. This will certainly catch you out if you have been picked up by any cameras in the last 2 weeks or so. |

The bigger problem here is that it would appear you have been driving without any insurance.If you've not been caught speeding then you may have got lucky this time.I'd contact your bank to see when the DD was cancelled and who did it. |
