sorry no longer a grace period since it was all computerised , the police will stop and prosicute if your found with an invalid tax disc. The Grace period was dropped because with the ability to buy your tax disc on-line there is no longer any excuse for not getting the disc before the old one runs out.
try the dvla website for details of buying online. |

theres no official grace period however my brother forgot his tax and it was left til 4days after it ran out before he could get to pay so a day or two poss won't matter.but you should really get it sorted as soon as you get the reminder |

There is no grace period and don't just take it off the road without informing the dvl with a statuary off the road notice (SORN) or they will automatically issue with a fine |

No NO time of Grace, Should have got it before Christmas... Take car off road until tax is through. |

There is not a grace period and if you buy online today you will not receive the disc for maybe a week.
You would still be committing an offence as it is an offence to not display a current tax disc. |

Mines also runs out tonight, but unfortunately i have been ill since xmas and just remembered about it this morning. Went onto the dvla website and purchased it online as i can not get out to the post office. Hopefully i'll be ok. If not, its my own fault for not doing it a few weeks ago when i received it. |

It is a commonly held misconception that there is a period of grace regarding the renewal of VED, in fact there isn't and never has been, if you display an out of date disc and it is spotted you will be nicked. If you rush you can get to the Post Office today! |

There is no grace period for taxation. However, provided your vehicle is not seen on the road and reported (by traffic warden etc.) unofficially you should be ok. |

No grace period at all, police will still be just as hard on you. Do it online or over phone, you dont need to produce documents as they check databases, its done instantly and you dont have you wait for disc to arrive in post until you drive, once youve paid you're covered. x |

No there is no grace period now that it gone computerised if you take the risk of driving untaxed, you will get picked up on the police automatic number plate recognition system, especiaaly if you are in London you will not get very far. |

No
There is a offence of keeping/using a vehicle on the road and failing to display a excise duty (tax disc) contray to sectoion 33 of the vehicle excise and registration act 1994.
There is no grace period because you are sent the reminder weeks in advance and you can either apply well in advance either at the post office or online from there website.
If you get caught you can get into bother, the fine is either 5 times the amount of your tax disc for a year or up to £1000. |

Friend of mine got £60 on the spot fine yesterday for having no tax. She was stopped by an unmarked police car. Looks like they are having to make their end of year quotas. |

If you drive your car or leave it on the road then possibly!
The so called 'grace' period is a nonsense - if you drive on the road or park on the road it must display a tax disc that is in force.
That is why they now send you the reminders 15 days in advance.
It is a misconception that there is a 'grace' period. If you drive it on the road without a tax disc - you are not insured either.
Double whammy and double the fine and a court appearance |

Yeah it does.I think its a annual thing. I think you get it done at the post office.
It will have the expiry date in the little disk that should be in your window.
