Car taxes, who is responsable?

I purchased a car in the middle of the year last year (May) and in Dec the taxes were due, I have still yet to pay for it due to the car being totaled out in June of last year. Anyways, who is responsable, should I have to pay for the full year even though I only had it for a few months? Even if it was totaled out? Isnt the person that had the vehicle before me responsable for the taxes? I was hoping to find a site to go on and find some of this information, I live in Ky if anyone can help. I appricate it, thanks so very much.

Here is the Kentucky transportation website:

I only know California rules. And here, once you title a car, you are responsible for fees and penalties associated with that car. (Not previous parking tickets or moving violations, as those go against the driver, not the car) |
