Car trouble. What should I do?

I let someone borrow a car but, I'm afraid it is now gone and forever. It's been long and the person doesn't return it.I lost contact including his phone number.Is it possible that he put it under his name or someone elses? without me. He beged me to let him borrow it for longer. My question is if he could put it under his name without me?

My family think that it can be found in California but not out the state.I only have the guys name and last.

im witht the other guy if u have tittle call cops an report it stolen give them all the guys info and he cant put his name or sum1 elses if he doesnt have title but if he does then ull never c that car again

You should call me right away! ok, the answer to your Q is yes. It isn't too hard to get a duplicate title and forge it. All it takes to put the car in another name is a signature that reasonably matches the one on file at DMV, especially if it is an older car with not a lot of value. You will bore the cops when you report it but I would do it anyway. They will check the registration and tell you who the registered and legal owners are. The bad guy isn't necessarily going to get arrested, especially if the car is in his name. Car thieves don't usually work that way. It sounds like it might turn out to be a "he said-she said" civil matter.

Well a person can not put a car under there name unless you sign the title over to them. So no its not possible he put the car in your name. All you have to do is call the police and report the car stolen and as soon as they find it, the guy will be arested and they will notify you that your car has been found

first what country you in?
if you in some corrupt country then possible, but if you talking america, britain, australia, then
NO he cannot put the car under his name, unless he have forged signature or have your personal details.
anyway, report to police and say you were away on holidays or make up a story and say you left your car in the driveway.
well if you got no insurance then badluck
otherwise , ring the place where you can track if the car is still under your name, get the third party and then after 1 week lodge a complain to the police that your car is gone and you were away.
and then insurance that your have been stolen.
to teach that guy a lesson,once you find the car and if the drive then tell police that you never gave permission to drive your car to anyone.
