Car write off where do i stand?

i have had a accident and have fully comp insurance with more than, the car is being assessed next week but will not be econmicol to repair, when they offer me a settlement fee do i have any rights over the car can i keep it or buy it back or is that it ? thanks in advance for any help

Contact them ASAP and inform them you want to keep the car.
The settlement would then be:-
If you caused the accident or just claiming on your insurance.

Value of the Car, Â£2300
Less the agreed excess Â£250
Scrap value Â£50
Say Â£2000

So you would get a cheque for Â£2000 and keep the car

If you are claiming off the other persons insurance you would not have to pat the Â£250
so would get the Cheque for Â£2250 and keep the car.

Most insurance Companies expect you to dispose of the car as most scrap yards now only pay for runners and even charge you to take the car.
So if you do not agree with the starting price they put on your car do not accept there first offer and if they allow you scrap value then you can point out that you will not get that much and reduce it so you get more monry.

The car will become the property of the insurance company when they settle, but you can usually buy it back - many companies will offer the car back as part of the settlement if you ask.

depends on state law where you live. if car is totaled, ask them if you can keep car. if law allows, will get salvage title.

they will usually deduct salvage value if you keep; that is the amount a salvage yard would pay for your auto.

the adjuster can explain if you qualify or not.
