Cash out my car insurance claim?

Okay i filed a claim to my insurance because my car was vandalized. The repair is $2,100. I want to tell them to just give me the money and I will get it repainted somewhere else cheaper. My question is What do I tell them and how should I say it. Ive never done this before.

Should I just tell them that I will repair it somewhere cheaper and keep the rest of the money?

Okay. If it is your insurance that is paying, Okay, you may not "cash out", Okay.

The check for the claim should be made out to you - not the shop. You can pocket the whole $2100 if you don't want to get it repaired. However if you don't repair the damage they will deduct that amount from any future claims for damage to the same areas of the vehicle.

The insurer is going to ask you to get an estimate from the place you can do it cheaper at. They will then pay you that amount.

Insurance carriers used to 'cash out' on claims, not a lot of them do it anymore. You'll need to approach your adjuster.
