Cheap car insurance for a seventeen-year-old?

I'll be getting my license in a few months, and the current quote is a staggering $1600. Are there any other options? I don't have that kind of money D: Any help is appreciated.

My driver's ed teacher said to register your car in your parent's name, you can pay them and it should be much cheaper. I'm not sure if it always works though, because I've heard the insurance companies do catch on. |

you can have your parents put you on their insurance and be the primary driver of the vehicle your using and insuring. also you can have the car registered on your name and their would be no repercussion what so ever. |

The insurance company WILL almost certainly catch on eventually; then it can 1. cancel your policy for fraud, or 2. bill you for the increased premium back to the day you started driving. (If you thought $1600 was bad...)
By adding your car to your parents' policy, you should get the multi-car discount, and you have the clout of your parents' coverage. But don't try to scam the company; they've seen it before. |
