Cheap insurance for a not so clean driving record?

HELP!! I'm a cali driver and in the last three years I received two tickets, one for driving too fast the other for not signaling so he said it was an unsafe lane change and then I had a fender bender. I only have liability insurance on my car because it's old and I"m paying about $1230 a year!! I've been driving for 12 years and I'd say 2006 and 07 were not my years!!! Anyhow I'm trying to get input on Cali drivers with similar driving records and get suggestions on different insurance companies that won't drain my bank account.
PS. I became upset when I found out an aquaintance of mine pays less and he's had a DUI!!! A DUI and I pay more than he does, WTF??!!!

Can I just say, Cali drivers all drive fast especially in So Cal it's only a matter of time before you pay your dues. Also the accident was not considered my fault someone ran a red light and crashed into me.

Yes, a single DUI, especially if it's about to expire, could and would be less than an obvious pattern over a year or two showing a series of tickets and accidents. Also, age and ZIP code affect rates. If your last ticket/accident was 07, it will all drop off by 2010 if you don't get any more, and things will go back to normal. |

I live in California (LA) so I know exactly what you are talking about! People drive 90+mph!!!
Liability should cost about $500/$600 a year no matter what your driving record. Find a company that only looks at your driving record for the past 12 months. That will solve half your problems.
$1200 a year for liability is expensive. My friend has a DWI and he pays less than that.
