Classic Car Owners: Who Insures Your Car?

So I am looking at buying a 1970 GTO, and I noticed that insurance is going to be interesting. My current company has odd restrictions like no more than 2,500 miles and such? I am having the GTO modified in ways to make it a daily driver and will likely be putting 10k on annually (give or take of course). Who insures your car? What restrictions do you have? How much does it run you?

Thanks for the education on the classic car insurance market, makes sense. I am not looking to "cheat" the system, just want good insurance, for what I need. Which is a classic car daily driver (I know, I know, odd concept it seems)

NO classic car policies will let you insure your car on classic rates and coverage, if it's your daily use vehicle. That's the whole POINT - you get a steep discount on the rate, because you only take it out on sunny Saturdays, and cut off the hand of anyone who tries to leave a fingerprint on the paint.
The best ones out there, IMO, are Haggarty, and Condon & Skelly.
Typical restrictions are: vehicle must be kept in a locked garage; no drivers in household under 26; there must be another household auto for EACH licensed household driver; milage limitation varies, but is generally UNDER 3000 a year. |

If it's going to be a daily driver, then any insurance company can insure it. It's only when you get into special use or collector cars with historic license plates that you start seeing 'odd' restrictions. |

I pay $250 a yr with my insurance for classic cars- "Silver Wheel"
I live in Canada - the only thing they stipulate is that it is simply a pleasure vehicle.
Oh and if you go on a big driving trip that you notify them if you leave the province or country.
That is really reasonable for $250 a yr. |

Classic cars are usually insured as "part time use" vehicles. If you will be driving it all the time, you will have to pay the price. Remember, the more the car is on the road, the more chance there is for an accident. |
