Hello.
I am 17 years old and from michigan. I want to get my drivers licenece soon, but i am curious how much insurance is. My mom and dad have insurance for both of their cars and i am wondering what the average yearly / monthly cost for me to be on their insurance as well?

Sadly the cost of insurance for teenage drivers is very high. This is because many teens drive irresponsibly such as drunk driving, speeding, not following general rules of the road. Actually I happened to come across 2 accidents today while I was out both involving young drivers and I don't even live in a heavily populated city. Now the farther you move up north anywhere usually the insurance rates increase because of winter and the hazards that brings to driving. Now I don't want to be putting you off of getting your license it is actually better to get it as soon as possible. The best thing to do is ask your parents what company insures their car. Then phone the company simply explaining that you want to get your license soon and you want to know how much it would cost for you to be put as an occasional driver on whichever vehicle your family has. This way you can get a definitive answer so you know how much you're going to have to pay. Don't be surprised if it's a lot though it's just how the insurance companies work. Heck I'm 20 and still paying way too much for insurance. Anyways good luck and make sure you inform the insurance company after you`ve completed any driver`s training or any changes in your license (eg. going from a learners permit to full license) and they will probably lower your insurance rates because you`re considered a more experienced driver. |
