There is no particular age limit and insurance companies set their own requirements. In general it will be a car no longer produced, possibly restored and an agreed value higher than the market value for an old banger of the same model will be used in the event of a claim and to work out the premium. Sometimes an owners club is required to certify the value.
It is usually restricted to a low annual mileage to reflect that the car is looked after and not used for business, travel to work and not much more than the odd drive out or going to a classic car show.
A car you happen to have or buy which is just a day to day use car even if old will not qualify for classic car cover and so this is not a cheap way to get covered |
