I'm one of those irritating people who passed both bike and car tests first time. On the one hand I can understand nerves cos I was bricking it both times but I really think that there should be a limit (say 3 or maybe, being generous, 5) on the amount of times you can take your test because some people (not necessarily you) are just not cut out for driving. Just watch the thumbs down on this answer, lol |

i failed my car test the first time, for not having proper control on reverse, not using my mirrors enough, and i cant remember what else as it was over twenty years ago. i had an ancient vw beetle and when i did the emergency stop the back seat came flying away from its catches nand hit the front.
the second time i had the same car and got the same examiner. he got in the car looked over his shoulder and said in a very dry voice "ive had you before" i thought ten id failed again so didnt worry too much and i passed so i think most people fail due to nerves
good luck and keep trying you will do it. |

I failed my first because a car almost hit me on a roundabout (actually not my fault but still). I haven't known anyone to pass first time. |

I failed first time. My friend and I took lessons together with the same teacher and we had our tests on the same day. We both failed and I booked another lesson straight away and after a few weeks passed my test, my friend on the other hand didn't try again for a few years and had to start from scratch all over again, I think it was five years before she finally passed - so the moral is - keep on having lessons, don't take a break cos you've spent a lot of money already and it would be a shame to let all that go to waste!!! Best of luck to you, bet you'll do it next time!!!!! |

The first time I failed was when I didn't see a car coming out a junction at a roundabout that was at a blind spot immediately right and slight behind me. If I looked at my blind spot and waited I still don't think I would have passed then either as I was so nervous I had so many minor mistakes!! The second time I couldn't get my reverse round a corner done properly and failed then too.
The last test and the one which I passed (7years after I started lessons on and off!!) I had 9 minors. I specifically repeated the instructions to double check I was getting it right and also made sure I had my test on a Saturday morning when the roads were practically dead so I could take my time and there were no other cars to distract me.
Good luck next time, don't feel too down!! |

It's a painful memory but I took my first test in 1990 when I was 18, I was so confident as my driving was quite good. I got to the test centre and went outside with the examiner, he told me to read a number plate on a distant car, and lets just say, I couldn't even see the car, let alone the number plate!!! My driving instructor had failed to test my eyesight during my lessons, I was so embarrassed, I had to walk about 5 miles back home in tears!!!
After a visit to the opticians I was told I would never be able to drive, I was devastated, I never thought my eyes were that bad. I left it for 7 years and then got a job in the office of a driving school, I told them about my problem and one of the instructors gave me an eye test, I had no problem. i wasted 7 years for nothing, I passed my test in 1997 and it was the nest feeling in the world!!
My Mum passed first time, my Dad was so sure that she would fail that he said she could have his pride and joy, a bright yellow Ford Capri, if she passed. She passed, and Dad had to keep his promise!!!!
Keep at it, you will pass, just put in for your test straight away and don't lose heart!!! |

Motor bike/scooter failed first time. Was cutting corners .Passed the second time.Car passed first time.I think that the driving test examiners are expected to fail the majority of first time applicants, in order that they all get more tuition and hopefully a higher standard of driving.I believe that less than 20% of applicants pass first time. |

I failed on my first test. It was the day the 'Reverse Parallel ' came in as a section of the test. And I was asked to do it by the examiner.
Although I obviously knew how to reverse into a parking space, it was his terminology that totally threw me and I just sort of sat there looking at him. I didn't know that I could have asked him to explain.
That was a big red cross and an automatic fail.
I switched instructors (my old one couldn't drive with two newly broken arms) and passed next time. |

I passed first time, although I didn't respected speed limits. But the examinator saw me very confident while driving and speed limits are the only road rule I have difficulties to respect! |

I passed first time, after 5 lessons, 8 weeks after My mum died, so I can't walk in Your shoes. Come to think of it, I don't have to walk anywhere. |

I passed mine with flying colors on the first try. Almost all of my friends, however, had to go 2, 3, or 4 times before they got theirs. I have also never had an accident and they have all totaled vehicles. Coincidence? I think not. |
