I live in ct and i was wondering can i drive my parenst car as long as they have car insurance on a registered car or do i have to be on a policy too?

First of all, do you live with your parents, or if you are going to school, is your legal residence your parents' home? If you live (or are a legal resident) with your parents, you would need to be added to the policy. If you live elsewhere and are only driving the car during a visit home, you most likely would be covered driving their vehicle (unless there is an exclusion on their policy).
The best thing would be for your parents to check with their insurance carrier or agent to be sure! |

I also live in Connecticut.
If you live with your parents you must be listed as a driver on their insurance. You don't "get your own insurance" if they own the car.
You must be listed on their insurance if you live in a dorm (away from home) and use their car.
If you pay rent (not to your parents) or own a home by yourself, you may use their car without being listed on their insurance.

If you are a licensed minor and living at home, you should be added to their insurance. If you are living on your own and use their car infrequently and with permission, you are covered and there is no need to be on their insurance policy. |

In some insurances you might be covered if they did not exclude you... so check with there insurance and see the exclusion only counts if you live with them if you dont then the only one i know of is aaa will cover you... |

Im from Florida, so I'm not sure of the law there, but here if you have your learners permit you can drive their car with them in it without being insured, but to drive any car on your own you must be included on the policy. |

Depends on the wording of their policy. If you're under 21 then in all likelihood you need to be added. |

no, don't tell the rip off companies that your driving. when i trained for my license, we didn't do that, and nothing happend to us. dont listen to anybodys bs about getting the "insurance"
