I believe it is mandatory in all states. Some states vary as to what or how much you must carry. You must at the very MINIMUM carry liability insurance. If you have a good car, you obviously want comphrehensive. |

Yes you must carry liability.
My advise is to get full coverage so it will cover your car also if your in a wreck.
Find a good insurance agent State Farm, Allstate etc. Pay your bill on time and stay accident free. After about 1-2 years your monthly payment will go down.
My insurance started at $100 per month. I now pay $40 per month. But it took several years to get that low. |

It depends on the requirements of your State. Almost all states requires, at minimum, liability insurance. This covers you if you're at fault in an accident. If you're financing or leasing a new car, most states require you to carry full coverage - liability, collision, and theft. That covers your investment if anything happens during the financial terms. Once you pay off your car, then you can go back to regular liability. The only alternative to insurance is to carry a bond, from $20,000 to $100,000 depending on state requirements. It's cheaper to have the insurance. |

The actual correct answer is yes and no. The no applies to the fact that some states will allow you to post a cash bond. In California this amount is in excess of twenty grand, which explains why most people choose insurance as the easier to obtain. |

Yes, in less you want to end up in jail and your car impounded if you ever get caught not having it for any reason..it could be getting pulled over for a routine traffic stop or, worse yet, an actual accident. My ex-brother in law spent 6+ months in jail and thousands of dollars for having an accident when he had no insurance.
Better solution is to find companies, like SafeAuto and depending on your driving record (if it is good to OK) with Progressive as many of them will take monthly payment plans. |

Yes, everyone must carry at least liability car insurance. Try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

Not sure what country you live in but if you are an illegal alien in America then you do not need it. You don't even need a drivers license. |
