I have Geico auto insurance. The deductible of comprehensive coverage is $500.
Last October, I hit a poor deer with a rental car and the damage estimated around $1,100. It consists of $1,000 repairing cost and $100 admin fee. The Geico is saying that the admin fee is not covered with the comprehensive coverage because it's not the 'loss or damage to my vehicle'. It means I have to pay $500 deductible plus $100 admin fee.
As I know, the deductible is the portion of any claim that is not covered by the insurance provider. And the admin fee should be included in the repairing cost for the damage. They say every other insurance company do not cover the admin fee as well. Is it true? Is there anybody who has similar experience recently? Thanks..

The administration fee is not covered under your comprehensive coverage. Comprehensive pays damage that is directly caused by the impact with the deer. The admin fee is the rental company charging you for the time it took them to process the claim. This is not damage caused directly by the deer. If the rental company insists on pursuing this charge.....then yes, you are responsible for paying it. |
