Hey all. Any advice is much appreciated. My boyfriend and I disagree with this, but here's the situation.
About an hour ago I was leaving his apartment complex and some idiot driving on the wrong side and going a bit fast hit my car. Well, it really only bumped my car. I stepped out to take a look. No damage to either car, no scratches or bumps at all (which is good, my car is only a few months old).
My boyfriend says I should have gotten the other driver's information, but since there was no damage I didn't bother.
Should I have gotten his info and reported it? I didn't think it was a big deal. I mean I was pissed, but not enough to report something that minor..
Any thoughts would be great.

I guess what's frustrating is that he got into a wreck and totaled his car in the same parking lot because someone was driving on the wrong side a few months ago.
Just took my car to the car wash--I still can't see anything on my bumper..could it be that my car's a mid size SUV, so it didn't damage it as much as it would have a little car? Just a thought

Yes, because maybe after you wash it or look at your car again you may find a dent or scratch, and especially since you say its not that old of a car, always exchange info. in any type of collision/accident. You may regret it later and be out money if you don't. |

Yes - you should always get the other driver's information and you should always report an accident, no matter how minor the damage may seem. |

If he did not stop, then yes I say you should have reported it just to each him a lesson in responsibility. But if he stopped and you both agreed that there was no damage, then there is no reason to waste the time or paper on a report. |

you'll only need the other persons details if your going to claim for damages
if theirs no damage theirs no problem

Any accident no matter how minor should be reported to the police and to your insurance company..................ALWAYS ! You may soon receive a summons to appear in court because the other guy found damage or suffered a "whiplash" |

You should have taken his information, then decided if you should have reported it. What happens tomorrow if you hit a bump and your bumper falls off from unseen damage? |
