yes you will need to renew for a manual one |

You can still use your full automatic one, but you'd have to take another test in a manual car, then send off your licence so they can update it. |

you would need to retake your test in a manual car. if you only have a licence for an automatic then you can only drive automatics. |

No, your automatic licence is also a provisional for the full licence. If you look at the paper counterpart it shows you.
If you go out in a manual car though you will need to display L plates and have a person over 21 and has held a full licence for more then 3 years to be with you at all times and insurance. |

I would have thought that you could use your full automatic but you should really phone the DVLA or even the driving school you are going to go through. I would think twice about it though, unless you have plenty money. It is very expensive now and the questions in the theory have gone from 35 to 50 just a few weeks ago. BTW if you pass in a manual, you are qualified to drive an automatic. |

You're gonna have to get a liscense for manual. They will want you to take a roadtest w/ a stick shift car as well. |

I don't know where most of you are located, but here in USA, it doesn't matter what you took your license test. You can learn to drive an automatic OR a manual later and there no retesting.
I took my road test back in 1970's (in an automatic) and then learned and since owned 4 different manual cars. And in fact there no place on the driver's license to note an "auto" or "manual" only marking.
Good Luck. |
