I will be getting my drivers license soon do I need to be on my parents insurance plan before I get my license or can I get it after I get my license? I live in the state of Georgia I'm 16 and have had my driving permit for over a year.

im 17 n georgia.. u can get them after..
u just cant drive(legally) till ur on there..
.not to cheap but haha id say check out geico for ur age there insurance was 150 cheaper than n e one else for me:) |

You can obtain your own insurance or you or you may be eligible for coverage under your parents or another existing auto policy but you must have coverage.
All drivers are required to carry financial responsibility. A Driver's or Learner's "Permit" is permission to drive and therefore a temporary license with certain restrictions.
When you are diving on a Learner's Permit, be sure to observe all the rules and restrictions of your permit. A Driver's Permit comes with all the same responsibilities of anyone who operates a motor vehicle on public roads, including our financial responsibility.
