The insurance goes with the car. If a car belonging to a friend is insured, and you have permission to drive it, you will be covered also. The only exception might be if you are living with a family member. Sometimes you have to be specifically listed as a driver on the policy to be covered. Call the agent to check for sure. The only way you can get insurance for yourself is if you own a car.

If you are in the US, the car itelf is insured... not the driver. C'mon guys Its called car insurance... not people insurance. If you are driving your parents car, then you would be covered under their car insurance. Technically you should be listed as a driver on your parents policy but many families do not do this when they have young children as the insurance premiums usually skyrocket. Even if your parents don't tell their insurance company that you are driving their car..you are still covered so dont worry. The insurance company will provide coverage for anyone driving the vehicle with the owners permission.

Insurance goes with the car, not with the driver. If you are using someones vehicle with their permission, you are covered. If it's your car, and you have insurance on it, you're covered.

The car itself is insured, not the driver. If you drive a particular car regularly you should be listed on the policy. This will probably effect the premium paid.

You need to make sure the insurance covers you. Some insurances are for people 25 and older or just for the individual that owns the car.

If you have car insurance you are fine. However, and there is always that proverbial "however", if you are hurt in an accident, or say you were not driving at all but at work, or walking or with other aspects of your daily life - should you get hurt, or really ill, like your appendix starts going, or you start showing signs of a gallbladder attack (radiating pain from your midsection radiating to your back; or if you need special scripts for pain; well these are just some examples and I think you get the point - yes, you should have medical insurance also. If you do not have it at work or it is not offered to you there, look up Golden Rule, or an HMO or PPO. Do a GOOGLE search.

As for Life Insurance. You are young. Young people tend to think they are immortal. Yet, we all are but a heartbeat away from death. A modest life insurance policy would be in order. It should be a small whole life policy. It is cheaper now that you are young as opposed to getting it when you are older. Whole Life or Insensitive Whole Life - where premiums may disappear over so many years is a must for young people for you are building up some equity, too. It is not to be used for an investment however.

If you say, bought a house you'd need a larger policy and that should be TERM insurance. TERM insurance is very cheap. If you bought a home with a 30 year mortgage get a 30 year Term policy.

Remember, getting insurance while you are young is very important, but equally important is to GET IT WHILE YOU ARE IN GOOD HEALTH "STILL". For if you had a medical problem prior to getting any insurance you may not be able to get any at all. It is always wiser to be sure than not.

You will need public liability to drive the car, the car can have insurance on it , fire theft , on just sitting in you driveway, but you can not drive it
