I am MS student from Chicago, IL. I need to find out if I need to obtain a MS license although I bought my car from a dealership in MS but had it registered in Chicago (my hometown)

If your legal address is Chicago you should be O.K. However, to be on the safe side, check with the local cops. Laws vary from state to state. |

I think technically you have 30 days to get a drivers license issued in the state you are living in, and 60 days to get new license plates. Will you be either buying or renting a house or apartment under your name? If not I wouldn't worry about doing either one, but if you get pulled over just tell the cops you're just visiting. Having a house or apartment under your name will screw you because I think cops could look that up and know that you are lieing to them. So if you can avoid having your place to live under your name I think you can get away with that lie. But then again I may be completely wrong here. |
