Where is "over there"?? Here in Canada, no, we change stickers on the plates. I don't drive but I know that much. If you have any outstanding fines, you can't change you sticker until your fines are paid.......they will hold that against you!!
The price also depends on your drivers abstract, or I could be wrong.......maybe that is just for your insurance!! Anyway you look at it they got your by the short hairs............Opps, hope I don't get a violation for that..........probably will!! |

Assuming you're in the USA, wanting an answer from the UK, then no, a UK car keeps its licence plate from day one to scrapyard, although some folks with far too much money buy 'personal' plates, which are just old plates which don't give away the year of manufacture, or spell out something interesting, like say, CHR 1S, which would go for thousands of ££s over here.
We still have to pay a yearly road tax, based on the car's CO2 emissions, anything from free to £300 a year. We get a little paper 'tax disc' which is put in the windscreen to prove to the law we've paid up. |

In Great Britain, no.
The registration number (licence plate) remains the same for the life of the vehicle.
It is possible to change it though, by purchasing personalised registration numbers (vanity plates). They cost from around £250 ($500) to over £50,000 ($100,000). |

TN plates as long as not damaged stay on for a certain amt. of yrs. then the state replaces them at time of renewel of registration and we only have plates on the rear of our car. I know some states have them in front & rear of the vehicles. well in our area we have a wheel tax ontop of reg taxes so, the basic amt here is $55.50 some areas can be as low as $28 or as high as $100 depends where u live the plate stays we just put new stickers on designated areas of the plate ea. yr. hope this helped. |
