YES! Trust me I know what I'm saying. You should always have auto insurance. You never know what will happen. Regardless of how long you are going to be driving the car. |

In New York, spade2nite is right and Autumn is wrong.
New York ONLY allows the registered owner of the vehicle to insure it. Also, if your auto policy lapses your vehicle registration is automatically suspended.
That means if you're caught driving the vehicle without insurance, you are driving a vehicle with a suspended registration.
Vehicle gets impounded, you get a free trip to the police station and a ticket to appear in court.
Ignore the ticket and blow off your court date, and your New York drivers' license is automatically suspended as a 'scofflaw' for 2 years, or until your case is adjudicated in the court of jurisdiction.
Get caught driving ANY vehicle with a suspended license, and you end up with a revoked license unless you have a good lawyer. |

Yes, you must have liability coverage. If you have a loan on the vehicle, the lender will require you to carry collision and comprehensive coverage as well. It doesn't matter how long you want to use it for, you must have insurance. |

In georgia if you dont have insurance, its a free ticket to jail. Im seriouse. But yes you do have to have vehicle insurance. In other states it may just be a fine and points added to your license and it also goes on your driving record. |

Yes, if you drive a car - you need insurance. Let's say for example you cause an accident on a new BMW work oh, $60,000. Insurance wise you pay $1200 a year. If you cause an accident, they would pay for the BMW - if you did not have insurance then you would be on your own. |
