Well... if you total your car do you want them to take into account the value your exhuast adds?
Right now they are insuring your FACTORY car.. so if that exhaust gets damaged.. that wont pay to have it replaced.
So yes, i suggest you tell them if you want them to take it into consideration. |

If the new exhaust changes the vehicle from the manufacturer's standard specification (and particularly if it enhances performance) then you must notify your insurer. This applies to any "modifications" but especially those that alter performance, alter the appearance of the vehicle or could make it more attractive to thieves. If in doubt, always tell the insurer and get written confirmation that the company has agreed to the change. |

No, but if you go out and buy a really expensive dual exhaust kit for about 4-5 hundred, and you get into a crash, they will replace the exhaust with stock ones. So if you want to make sure you will always have that exhaust even if you get into a crash, you tell your insurance company, and get your monthly cost increased a little. But personally, I wouldn't tell them. |
