In the UK you will need to be 16 or over to ride a moped. You need to apply for a provisional licence and then complete a CBT (Compulsory Basic Traning). A CBT is valid for 2 years, if you don't take your full bike test before your CBT expires, you must take another CBT to continue riding.
Once you have your provisional licence and CBT certificate, you can ride a 50cc (moped) with a maximum speed of 30mph. You must display L plates front and rear. You cannot carry pillion passengers or ride on motorways. You will need to have insurance and the moped must have tax (£15 per year) and MOT (if older than 3 years old).
If you are 17 or older you can ride a 125cc bike, which in my opinion is much safer than 50cc.
Are you sad for getting a moped? No way man, it a fast, cheap and fun way of getting from A to B. Go for it! |

Yes you need a provisional driving licence for a moped, and you will need to take 'Compulsory basic training course, otherwise known as a CBT test. Very easy.. : ) And no i don't think it's sad if you get a moped, it gets you from a to b and at the end of the day that's all you need it for.

of course you do and you have to pass a CBT test before you are allowed on the road the CBT test is to ensure you are capable of driving safely on the road and takes approx hal a day and costs approx £80 depending where you live.
you cannot go on the road without a licence and a pass certificates for doing your CBT |

Yes you do need a license for a moped although you only need a provisional to start with. Not sad at all it will save you walkin!! |

Yes you need a licence and insurance and road tax. If you don't get these you deserve to get your *** sued off and a prison sentence if you cause an accident. No not sad, just necessary. |

Hi You need a licence and to take CBT before you can use a moped on the road in UK but if you passed a test on any other class of vehicle before 1991 it will act as a full licence for a moped, since then it will act as a full licence once you have passed CBT. |
