Does a cars body shape affect the insurance?

In January I'm going to buy myself a car. I want a Peugeot 306 Diesel, because they are simple, economical and cheap on insurance. Thing is, I think I'm going to need the estate version as I'm always lugging stuff around like firewood etc etc. So my question is, will the estate version be the same to insure than the hatchback with the same engine?

I'm 17 by the way and the hatchback 306 costs £1,563 for me to insure.

Body shape of a car does not affect car insurance. The decicing factors are, Engine size. Year of manufacture. Your driving record. Your age, How long you have held a full driving licence, The area you live in. The last item mentioned is to rate the risk of car crime in your area from Insurance statistics.

Not directly it depends on the amount of people in your age group that also have the same car and how many of them have claimed so the insurance for a estate would probably be cheper as less people your age would have estates as they would all want 3 dr ones so then the 3 door ones would probably cost more to insure! but beware of peugeots ive heard some real horror stories! THATS NOT ALWAYS TRUE FOR THE ANSWERRR... THE FIRST GUY SAID.... HONDAS ESPECIALLY "CIVICSS" 2DOOR 4DOOR... ARE A VERYYYYY COMMON BEGINNER CARS 4 TEENAGER KIDSS THEREST NOT A SINGLE TEEN THAT DOESNT KNOW A FRIEND WHO HAS A HONDA... AND THE INSURANCE FOR THOSE CARS ARE CHEAPP AS HELL ON THATTT IM ONLY 19 AND ME AND MY FRIENDS HAVE OWNED SEVERAL HATCHBACKS AND PRELUDE AND NONE OF THOSE HAVE EVERY BEEN MORE THEN 1G AND WITH DECENT COVERAGE.... SO ITS NOT ALWAYS THE CAR THAT ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE ITSS...... JUST THE ONES THEY KNOW ARE HOT TICKETS AND WHICH ONES ARENT......

you wouldnt think so but it could-say the corvettes shape is diff than the renault-apples and oranges- other things that affect you- your credit rating-ect..any excuse to get more money from ya
