Yes, it has your photo and date of birth on it
I don't blame the worker, cause he's just covering himself, you would be surprised how many 15 year olds buy a scratchcard and look 18
People should really learn to read, she is saying SHE HAD NO ID, to prove her age.

If it has your picture and date of birth on it, then it should be fine. If it is just a paper licence with no picture (and I'm not sure which you get for a provisional) then they probably will not take it. I know that they wouldn't accept it in a bar - it must be a photo id and, as I understand it, similar rules apply to gambling (which is what the scratch cards come under). |

it works mate! i've always looked young for my age so i've had to use id since my 16th birthday. i used to have to take my passport just to buy ciggies. what a pain. used my provisional since the day i've got it to get in clubs, buy booze e.c.t. never had a problem! |

It's not a proof of ID you need, it's a proof of age. Valid proofs include:
Passport
Photo driving licence
Citizencard
Portman ‘Prove It"
Validate card
Supermarkets are festooned with notices pointing out that staff are required to seek proof of age if you appear to be under 21 - I guess you didn't think that applied to you. |

Yeah, it will be fine. The only difference between the provisional and full licence is the colour. |

How embarassing you poor thing! I would have insisted on seeing the manager!
Anyway yes i think it should do, I have recently signed up for a contract mobile phone and they asked me for id and i chose to use my provisional and they accepted it without a problem. |

for the purpose of which you state you required it the answer is no only a full licence can offically be taken as ID a provisional licence is not acceptable under british law also a out of date passport is also unacceptable as ID as well |

Does in say a bank etc however laws passed last week that you can no longer use this or any drivers license as form of ID at say a pub for example |

Sorry but only a full driving licence is a legal form of ID. You can however send off for a citizens card which is a legal form of proof of age I think it costs about £9 and you have to get a person to endorse it for you the same as you would a driving licence.Try going to www.citizencard.com |
