Iv,e heard its a year and then you have to renew it, and i've also heard that it lasts till your 70. Please help!!

A UK driving licence does last until your 70th Birthday. However it all depends on if you have notified DVLA if you have any medical conditions. Having a medical condition can limit the validity of a driving licence because they need to check your health ever 1 - 3 years. If you have a photocard licence, it still lasts till your 70th birthday but the date of expiry on the front of the card shows when your photograph expires, you will need to look on the BACK of the photocard to check the 'to' and 'from' dates. Well you still can't drive on the public highway until your 17 although you can apply 3 months before your 17th birthday to get it and it will last you until your 70th birthday unless you pass then your full licence will last until you are 70. |

If you hold a provisional you can only drive if someone is with you and they are insured and hold a full licence. So that sort of defeats the point of driving when they could do it for you. Go get ur full licence then you can drive on your own. Or for the rest of ur life you will always have to have someone with you. Think it lasts a few years. Good luck. |
