Varies all over. There is a stipulated normal rate but few garages use that. Most offer lower charges, especially if a service is taken at the same time. l had MOT and full service for £80 which I thought was reasonable But pays to shop around , |

check this out your local council will do m.o.t its about 50 pounds AND the good thing is they dont do the repairs if it needs anything doing.They will either pass it or fail it.They will give you the truth of anything that needs doing cos they wont be making money from the repairs we use our council every year then if any work needs to be done we acn shop around for a price good or wot? oh and its where they mantain their own council fleet of vehicals |

An M.O.T costs a set amount from the government, but it is up to the individual garage wether they charge less or more for this test. You can get the answer from here .

There is no standard charge so, as always, shop around.
Some garages will bundle a deal if you know in advance that you also need work done to get through the MOT. advanceCurrent economic climate means you should be able to negotiate a lower price than first quoted.
Moneysavingexpert.com suggests using your local authorities as they have no vested interest - i've put the link in below. Not tried them myself as I've got a good local garage who I trust,
As in all services, quality will vary widely.Car dealers and garages are the contemporary equivalent of horse traders. They used to hang a lot of those in the old days.
Word of mouth is almost always the best reference you can get about a supplier.
