hi,
At age 17 its really hard to find a cheap car insurance, but if you really need to get a car insurance dont look for a cheap car insurance but a good car insurance. what i mean it offers all necessary things needed for a car insurance at a reasonable price...
Cheap car insurance dont mean the best car insurance...I suggest you make a personal search and collect quotes from 5 - 10 car insurance company and compare it yourself and see whats the cheapest and the best offer...
For you fast search for your car insurance quotes visit this site... http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com/. i used that site too for my car insurance quotes search...
I hope youll find a cheap car insurance offer there... |

My daughter started driving at 17 so I know how hard it is. The cheapest one we found was Endsleigh. They market themselves for students (they have a branch on her campus at University!), and accept monthly payments. I wouldn't say their customer service was brilliant in our experience, but once you have a year or two's no claims discount, you can switch to somewhere else- my daughter is now with Diamond. |

If you still live with your parents and they have car insurance your probable best chances of somewhat cheaper insurance is to be added to there insurance. Plus hopefully your still in school and if you get good grades some insurance companies will give a better rate to Good students.
And last of all if that doesn't help shop around check with at least 3-6 companies as they don't all charge the same and offer the same services. |

Sorry but there isn't any cheap insurance for people of your age.In your own name, you are talking a lot of money. Your cheapest way would be to add your name to mum or dads insurance as a named driver. It will cost a considerable premium but cheaper than in your own name. Once you get a couple of accident free years behind you your premiums will start to come down. |

I'd suggest moneysupermarket http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/. It won't be cheap for a new driver but if you go on your own insurance you can build up no claims bonus to help bring the cost down next year, make sure your car is in one of the cheaper insurance groups |

It may be cheaper to be under your one of your parents just to get you started. directline lets you build a no claims bonus with them under your rents till you have been driving long enough to afford your own with them. |

unfortunatley there will be so such thing as "cheap insurance" for a 17 year old with no claims or experience. even a 1.2 i think you would be looking at near £1000.
if you are in the uk, try looking in the back of magazines such as fast car, max power for insurance companys that specialise in young high risk drivers.
good luck and get saving........................ |

Get an old car that does not require you to cover comp and coll coverage. It will cut your cost in half. |

If you are inexperienced in the ways of insurance I would recommend seeing a local insurance broker - not one of the Nationals, who have very high charges. Try and avoid using the internet until you become aware of the many pitfalls.
Other general ideas.
1) Take the pass plus - probably get a few quote both with and without the pass plus and check that the insurance company will discount your premium once you have taken the test if you take out the policy before you take the test.
2) Look for a 6-month policy with bonus enhancement at the end of it - can save you money if for instance you have a birthday coming up.
3) Look in Parkers guide for car groupings and pick cars with low groups - the older the car, within reason, the better.
4) As you are 17 you won't be able to pay by direct debit and you obviously won't have a credit card - that limits your options.
5) Your parents might (if you are lucky) buy a car and insure it for you to drive. Please note:-
a) The person who owns the car has to insure it.
b) The premium will still be rated on your age as the main user
c) You won't earn an easily transferable no claims bonus.
(In London Direct Line are advertising on buses 'Named Drivers earn their own no claims bonus' - in writing too small to be seen from the car behind is the qualification - 'bonus only allowed by Direct Line' - a typical underhand advertising campaign)
Hope this helps. |
