Does anyone know what will happen in the casue of an uninsured vehicle being involved in a minor fender bender

The situation is this.... a person other than the registered owner was driving the vehicle and tapped the veichle in front. There were no injuiries and the only damage was paint and a bent exhaust. The other party has insurance...what will the other parties insurance company do?
Additional Details
What is the best way to settle with the insurance company because the other party has contacted their insurance company.

If the driver isn't on the owners policy the owners insurance will investigate for coverage ie make sure they had permission and that the driver isn't a regular driver of the vehicle. If coverage is found and they accept liability they will pay for your damages.
Doesn't matter if the other vehicle had collision coverage it will be paid out from there property damage.

These types of claims take a little longer when there is a unlisted driver.

the other party will file a claim with their company and their company will come after the titled owner and driver to be reimbursed for the claim. if the person driving your uninsured car has a policy on their car, his company may take the claim.

Since it has been reported to there insurance company the best thing to do is contact there insurance co. and ask for the claims adjuster that's is handling this report find out the damage cost and make arrangement's to pay the damage cost in full and fast. in a lot of states it is illegal to drive without insurance. So the insurance company can and WILL take you to small claims court and sue you for damages plus court cost plus every other nickel and dime charge they can get from you

Provided the other party has the correct coverage (collision or uninsured motorist), they will repair the vehicle and come after you/the registered owner for what was paid out.

Uninsured motorist would only help the other party waive their deductible...but the cost of repair overall is the same.

The laws vary from state to state who can be persued...the driver or the owner or both. If you're in a state that allows for both, if one party doesn't pay the other will have to.

Since insurance goes with vehicles, not with drivers, if the person driving had the permission of the owner they were covered under the insurance. Just report it to the insurance company and let them sort it out.

Don't know about the US but in the UK its a criminal offence to be driving without valid insurance . It can lead to a fine or imprisonment. You can also be sued by the insurance company and would find it hard to get any other company to insure you.

Either settle with the other guy in cash or his insurance company will go after you first and then the car owner second.

Does the vehicle have insurance on it? the insurance may go after the owner of the car responsible as opposed to the driver

HondaRGurl
depends if they have full coverage insurence or uninsured vehicle motorist coverage.
