Doubtful. Go to the dealer with the VIN number and proof you actually own the vehicle (under new laws you MUST be the owner) and they will make you a new key. If it's the key with the chip you'll have to tow the car in so they can reprogram the computer to recognize the chip. |

Nope. But if your purse was stolen with your keys inside, your Homeowners or Renters insurance may cover a replacement without charging a deductible. They want to prevent a theft loss in your home, so they'll replace the keys for free. Only if they were stolen though. |

No, but CAA/AAA or other auto club may help. A mobile locksmith will generate a key for a fee, unless you have a chipped immobilizer key, in which case you need to go to the dealer and provide proof of ownership before they will order you one. |

No. Some policies, let's say if your house was broken into and your purse was stolen or the key was stolen somehow may pay for recoding of locks, but you'd have to have a police report and all that stuff. They insure vehicles, not keys. |

Usually, with car insurance, you may have to pay the first £? of any claim. Which is likely to be more that the cost of a new key. If the key is rather special and costly to replace, then I suggest you have a word with your insurance company, or check the small print of your policy. Remember, a claim could affect your no claims bonus! |
